I knew I wanted to be a dentist from the time I was eight years old.
This early realization helped me focus on the straight forward path of
becoming a dentist. I also had the privilege of working in Manhattan
with my family dentist who was my mentor.
I graduated Cum Laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo in
1966 majoring in psychology while having a minor in sciences. I made
the Dean’s List numerous times and graduated with honors.
The Dental School that I chose had one of the smallest classes in the
country. I felt that this was an ideal way of learning and interacting
with the renowned faculty. I graduated form the University of Buffalo
Dental School in 1970 with various honors and accolades. I had the
privilege of receiving academic scholarship grants and fellowships
during my four years of dental school. While I was attending the
school, I was proud of the fact that I had published a paper relating
dentistry with psychology. I had a research grant at the famous
Roswell Park Cancer Hospital studying
the oral manifestations of leukemia and I received the highest honors in Radiology.
After graduating I did my residency at Fort Hood, Texas where I honed
my skills in all phases of dentistry. I was a dental officer (captain)
in the Army Dental Corps during the Vietnam War. Upon completing my
military commitment, I worked in a very prestigious Manhattan dental
office under the tutelage of my own loving family dentist.
In 1973, my family and I chose to relocate to our present area where we
have lived and practiced dentistry for over 32 years in this ideal
situation. The practice grew as did the community and I was extremely
fortunate to be a health care provider in this atmosphere. For the
last 25 years, I relocated the dental office to a former Catholic
Church (St. Marks) in the same community where the office originally
was. Many of my present patients had been parishioners of this same
church.
In 1981, I was asked by some of the distinguished faculty of the State
University of New York at Stony Brook to join their staff as a Clinical
Assistant Professor in the Department of Dental Medicine’s Restorative
Department. I was able to help teach the next generation of dentists
and give them perspective as to what to expect after they completed
their formal studies. I am always proud of the fact that I gave back
to the profession that I care so much about. I also was honored when one of the graduating classes chose me to be
their noted attending dentist at their very own graduation.
Besides my son Eric, who has been associated in the practice since he
was a teenager and now is a full-time dentist in our practice, I have
influenced many people who eventually went into the field of
dentistry be it as a dentist or in an ancillary role. I have taken well over
1000 hours of continuing education courses.
Professionally, I am a member of the following organizations.
American Dental Association
New York State Dental Society
Suffolk County Dental Society
Academy of General Dentistry
I have been married to the woman of my life, Iris for 39 years and have
in addition to my dentist son Eric, another son Scott. Both of my sons
are married and they each have 2 children. I enjoy golf, tennis, travel, photography and cherishing the many friends who we have made over the
years.
